Changing your Garmin watch strap for a new one is simpler than you think — as long as you know which connector system your model uses. Our straps work with the standard Quick Release system, used across a large part of the Garmin range.

In this guide we explain step by step how to change your strap, what the what the difference is between Quick Release and QuickFit, and what to look out for before ordering.

Quick Release or QuickFit — what's the difference and which one do you have?

Garmin uses two different strap connectors — and they are not interchangeable. It's important to know which one your watch has before ordering a strap.

  • ✅ Quick Release — the standard system with a spring bar and a small sliding pin on the side of the strap connector. No tools needed. This is the system our straps fit.
  • ❌ QuickFit — Garmin's own system where the strap clicks directly onto the watch without a spring bar. Recognisable by the click mechanism on the back of the strap. Our straps are not compatible with this.

⚠️ Check carefully which model you have before ordering.

💡 Please note: Many Garmin models come in multiple variants, sometimes indicated by an 'S' or a number after the model name (e.g. Approach S70 small vs. large, Venu 2 vs. Venu 2S). These variants can have a different strap connector. Always check your exact model name before ordering a strap, and use our SIZE GUIDE to confirm which size fits your model.

Changing your Garmin strap: step by step

Our smartwatch straps work via the standard Quick Release system and are available in 20mm and 22mm. No tools needed — the swap takes less than a minute.

  • Step 1 — Place your Garmin face down on a soft, clean surface — for example a microfibre cloth. This prevents scratches.
  • Step 2 — Locate the small sliding pin (quick-release pin) on the spring bar — this sits on the side of the strap connector, close to the watch lug.
  • Step 3 — Slide the quick-release pin on the spring bar to the side to release the strap. Gently pull the strap away from the watch.
  • Step 4 — Repeat for the other half of the strap.
  • Step 5 — Insert one side of the spring bar of the new strap into the watch lug.
  • Step 6 — Slide the quick-release pin to the side and align the spring bar with the opposite lug. Release the pin — the strap clicks into place.
  • Step 7 — Repeat steps 5 and 6 for the other half of the strap.
  • Step 8 — Gently tug the strap to confirm it's securely locked. If installed correctly, it will not slide free.

⚠️ Never force the strap into the lug. If it doesn't slide in smoothly, check that you've chosen the correct strap size via our SIZE GUIDE.

Got a wrap strap? Here's how to wear it

Attach your wrap strap the same way using the steps above. Then wrap the cords around your wrist and close it by threading the button through one of the loop holes — just like a regular wrap bracelet.
